ADMISSION NOTICE (2008-2009) BE, B.Tech, MCA, MSc, M.Phil, ME, M.Tech, Ph.D 2008-09
FOR ADMISSION TO BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING (BE), BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B.Tech), MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATOINS (MCA), MASTER OF SCIENC (M.Sc), MASTER ENGINEERING (ME), MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY (M.Tech.), MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (M.Phil.) AND DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D) PROGRAMMES FOR THE SESSION 2008-2009
This 50 years old Deemed University is a premier institution of higher education and is accredited for all its programme by NBA (AICTE), NAAC (UGC) and is also ISO 9001/2000 certified. It has all specializations at UG, PG and Doctoral level and is duly recognized by Central Agencies i.e. UGC, AICTE, DST, DBT etc for funding the research projects.
The Prospectus along with the Admission Form containing the details of eligibility, number of seats, reservation of seats, counseling/ admission schedule, fees etc. and other details can be had at the University counter on payment of Rs.1000/- OR by post through Bank Draft of Rs.1050/- in favour of the Registrar, Thapar University, Patiala payable at Patiala from the Office of the Registrar or can be downloaded form their website www.thapar.edu or one can apply ONLINE. Prospectus & Application Form will be available from March 28, 2008 onwards.
BE/B.Tech Programme (First year on the basis of AIEEE-2008)
Admissions to BE/B.Tech programmes shall be made on the basis of merit in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE-2008) to be conducted by CBSE, New Delhi on April 27, 2008. In addition, minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/Computer Science at 10+2 or equivalent are required to be eligible for admission.
50% of the sanctioned intake of B.E/B.Tech. programme are reserved for the candidates who have passed (or appearing) their +2 from Institutes located outside Punjab.
The candidates desirous of seeking admission in this University have to submit a separate application to this University on prescribed application form appended in the Prospectus of the University.
BE/B.Tech Programme (Second year through LEET-TU)
Admission to the 2nd Year of BE/B.Tech. programme shall be made on the basis of the Entrance Test (LEET-TU) to be conducted by the University at Patiala and Delhi on June 21, 2008.
50% of the seats are reserved for the candidates who have passed (or appearing) their 3 year diploma/ 2 year diploma after 10+2 from Boards/ Universities located outside Punjab.
MCA / MSc (Biotechnology) Programme
Admissions to MCA/MSc (Biotechnology) programme shall be made on the basis of merit in the Entrance Test to be conducted by TU, Patiala at Delhi and Patiala. Candidates are required to send completely filled up form appended with the University Prospectus. The counseling for admission will be held at TU on July 14, 2008.
M.Sc (Phy)/M.Sc.(Chem) / M.Sc. (Maths & Computing)
Admission will be made on the merit of the entrance test to be conducted by TU at Patiala on June 22, 2008 (Sunday).
ME/M.Tech./Ph.D
Admissions to ME/M.Tech programmes in the following disciplines will be made and preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates. For Non-GATE qualified and part-time candidates. TU will conduct its own Entrance Examination at Patiala on July 3, 2008. The interview for GATE qualified, Non-GATE qualified and part-time candidates will be conducted July 4, 2008.

Admissions to 10 seats each in M.Phil (Economics) and M.Phil (Psychology) shall be made on the entrance test to be conducted by TU at Patiala on May 04, 2008.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)
Admissions to Ph.D program shall be made on the basis of interview be conducted by TU on July 2, 2008.
